2025 Art Awards: The Big Picture

The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana announces the recipients of the 2025 Art Awards. These awards celebrate arts organizations, artists, and patrons who have made significant contributions to the arts and cultural landscape of our community. A committee of past winners and community arts advocates selected honorees from an inspirational pool of dedicated nominees.

The 2025 Art Awards: The Big Picture will be held on Thursday, August 14th from 5:30-8 pm at City View at Sterling Square, and will include recognition in the following categories: Visual Art Award, Performing Art Award, Young Artist Award, Arts Educator Award, andArt Project Award. In addition, the Arts Council Staff and Board of Directors will present the Arts Council Award to two recipients, and Mayor Stephanie Terry will present the prestigious Mayor’s Art Award.

The following groups and individuals will be recognized at the event:

Visual Art Award: Matt Fitzpatrick
Performing Art Award: Andrea Drury
Young Artist Award: Jocelyn Maria and Brooklyn Hanks
Arts Educator Award: Sara Ruckman
Arts Project Award: RiverTown Storytellers at the River’s Bend
Arts Council Award: Jessica and Mike Inman and Kyle Darnell
Mayor’s Art Award: Eric Renschler

The Arts Council Turns 55!


IT’S OUR BIRTHDAY, and we’ll party if we want to! We’re shutting the block DOWN. Pull up a seat and create at each of our art stations until your heart’s content! We’ll be t-shirt printing, collage-making, painting, and much more. The party continues with live music, birthday cake, and friends. Join us at our birthday celebration, The Big Picture: 55 Years of Arts in Evansville, on Wednesday, June 25th from 5pm – 7pm.

This is a FREE, ALL AGES event. Patsy Hartigan’s will provide a cash bar for 21+.

For 55 years, the Arts Council has worked hard at fulfilling its mission of enhancing the quality of life in the region and bolstering economic development by advocating and promoting arts, arts education, and arts organizations in Southwestern Indiana. You can be a part of our mission too!

Nominations are due by 4 p.m. on May 30th, 2025

Mayor’s Art Award – This highly prestigious honor is given to an individual whose contributions to the arts have had an exceptional impact on the community. Consideration is given to evidence of long-standing support of, and life-long interest in, the arts. The nominee must be a current resident of Vanderburgh County whose arts activities have had significant impact on the City of Evansville.

Visual Art Award – This award recognizes an exceptional candidate from the visual arts discipline. (Film and literary arts are included in this category.)

Performing Art Award – This award recognizes an exceptional candidate from the performing arts discipline.

Young Artist Award – This award recognizes a rising high school junior or senior in the 2025-2026 school year who displays exceptional aptitude in an artistic discipline. 

Art Educator Award – This award recognizes an exceptional educator who directly influences and engages students of any age through the visual, literary, or performing arts.

Art Project Award – This award recognizes a project that utilized the arts to advance community, economic development, or quality of life goals or initiatives in the 2024 calendar year.

On the Roof Member/Donor Appreciation Night


Arts Council Members and Donors are invited to join the Arts Council for a special appreciation night! With music starting at 6:30pm, and doors opening at 6, come see Corduroy Orbison and Georgia Funkadelic rock the roof!
